The official minimum cut off marks suggested by JAMB for admissions into public universities, private universities, public polytechnic, private polytechnics and colleges of education are 160, 140, 120, 110 and 100 respectively.
- Public Universities — 160
- Private Universities — 140
- Public Polytechnics — 120
- Private Polytechnics — 110
- Colleges of Education — 100
This does not mean tertiary institutions cannot set their cut off mark to be higher than the above minimum cut off mark; it only means the tertiary institutions cannot set their Jamb cut off mark to be lower than the new minimum cut off mark.
So, institutions are free to increase their cut off marks for admission above the minimum set by JAMB.
This decisions were taken at the recent 2019 combined policy meetings on admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
